  • What does Ukubonga Cleaning do?
    We provide commercial cleaning services to businesses in Johannesburg, with a special focus on commercial offices and business parks, schools and colleges, and pre-occupational real estate (both residential and commercial).
  • How many years have you been in business?
    Ukubonga Cleaning was established in 2016, but grew out of Guaranteed Clean (est. 1987). Between our managing partners, Gaby Obermeyer and Zandi Sithole, we have over 50 years of combined experience in commercial contract cleaning.
  • What changes have you made to deal with Covid-19?
    As a commercial cleaning company, we render an essential service. With that in mind, we've painstakingly trained our cleaning staff on how to do their jobs safely, and protect themselves and everyone around them from possible infection. We're incredibly strict on the matter of PPE (personal protective equipment) and we've made sure to meet all of the new Covid-19 work regulations. On the services front, we now offer an array of Covid-19-related cleaning services to local businesses at large, and not just to our contracted clients. These services include: - Chemical Fogging - Steam Cleaning (a sanitization service for bathrooms, changerooms and sickbays) - The Covid-19 Pre-Clean (a deep clean popular with businesses who frequently deal with high foot traffic and rotating teams) Please contact us for more information.
  • Which areas do you serve?
    We're based in Blairgowrie, Randburg, and largely serve the northern suburbs of Johannesburg (Sandton, Rosebank, Randburg, Parktown, Northcliff, etc.), however we're available to businesses in greater Johannesburg.
  • Is there any kind of cleaning you don't do?
    We don't offer residential cleaning, industrial cleaning, medical/crime scene cleaning, or restaurant and hospitality cleaning at this time.
  • What do your services cost?
    Every cleaning contract is individually priced. The cost depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the size and condition of your premises, desired cleaning frequency, and any special cleaning requirements that you may have. Reach out to us anytime for your free estimate and one of our consultants will come to see you free of charge.
  • Do you offer any one-time services to businesses who don't have a contract with you?
    We offer steam cleaning (commercial clients only) and pre-occupational cleaning as a one-time service. If you're not yet sold on contract cleaning, why not book with us for one of these services to see what we can do for you? ​
  • When I contact you for a free cleaning estimate, what can I expect from my site visit and consultation?"
    The on-site consultation consists of a walk-through of your premises, and a Q&A session about your facilities where we'll go through your unique requirements and gather any necessary info needed to put together an accurate estimate. This usually takes 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the premises. Once we've completed your consultation, you'll receive your cleaning estimate within 48 working hours. ​
  • Do you do green cleaning?
    We're big on sustainability and use eco-friendly products wherever possible.
  • Are you BBBEE compliant?
    We're a registered Level 2 BBBEE company.
  • Are you insured?
    Of course. We carry public liability insurance and can provide our clients with an up-to-date letter of good standing upon request.
  • Why should I invest in commercial contract cleaning when I can book a cleaner as needed at any time?

  • We're big on safety. How do you screen your employees?
    Our hiring process is thorough. All of our employees agree to a background and reference check, and attend multiple interviews before being hired on at Ukubonga Cleaning. ​
  • Can we expect the same team of cleaners for the duration of our cleaning contract?
    When you sign up with us, we put together a "dream team" of cleaning professionals who are assigned to your cleaning contract. Dealing with the same cleaning team on a regular basis helps to build trust, and allows our cleaning staff to truly get to know, understand and address the needs your facilities. Any changes made to the core team over time will be carefully made with you in mind.
  • How do you train your employees?
    We're dedicated to the skills development and growth of our staff. To maintain a professional standard, our cleaners attend both off-site and on-the-job training sessions. Training is ongoing, and covers everything from product knowledge, to expert cleaning methods and techniques, healthy and safety, and customer service.
  • Do you provide cleaning equipment and supplies?
    Everything outlined in your estimate and covered by your contract will be provided by us. This includes all supplies, labor, cleaning equipment, tools, and cleaning products needed for the ongoing and hygienic maintenance of your facilities.
  • Do you customize your cleaning plans?
    Absolutely. Every contract has its unique requirements. Before starting a new job, we collaborate with our clients to put together a cleaning plan that caters to their premises, budget, line of business, and working schedules. Speak to us for more information.
  • How can a new client best prepare for their new cleaning contract?
    There is very little to do to prepare for a new contract, but we do ask that our clients provide us with the following before we begin: 1. A company representative/liaison who will act as our main point of contact for the duration of the cleaning contract. 2. Easy access to running water and electricity. 3. A designated changing area for our staff, where they can safely store their valuables. 4. A lockable storage space for any cleaning equipment that lives on site.
  • What do I do if I'm not happy with my service?
    We appreciate all of your feedback (positive and negative). If you are not satisfied with your service, please email our office with your concerns, or reach out to your contract manager, and we'll attend to the matter at once.
  • What is Pre-Cleaning?
    A pre-clean is a deep clean that is done for the purpose of getting a premises up to standard and in excellent shape, usually in preparation for a new tenant. Pre-Occupational Real Estate: We offer a one-stop pre-cleaning service for both residential and commercial real estate, and take care of all of your cleaning needs prior to occupation. Whether you're selling, letting, or getting ready to move in to a brand new space, a pre-clean is guaranteed to leave your premises glowing and smelling fresh. Contracted Clients: Occasionally, we'll recommend pre-cleaning to a contracted client before starting their cleaning contract, so as to set the tone for proper upkeep. This is only necessary if the client's previous cleaning service provider has left the space in bad shape, or if the client has not previously invested in professional cleaning. Covid-19: The Covid-19 pre-clean is a great option for businesses who have reopened their doors, and wantto boost workplace hyigiene, either: 1. before the return of their staff 2. in between staff rotations 3. on a periodic basis to reduce the chance of infection in areas that see high foot traffic The Covid pre-clean is largely focused on the sanitizing and disinfecting of germ hotspots, and may include popular once-off treatments like bathroom steamcleaning and chemical fogging.   • What is the difference between steam cleaning and carpet/upholstery cleaning?
    Steam Cleaning is a sanitization service that kills 99% of bacteria in germ hot spots like bathrooms, change rooms and sickbays, and is the best way to deep clean the hard-to-reach crevices, walls, floors, urinals, toilet bowls, sinks and basins of your facilities. Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning is often confused with steam cleaning and is actually done using a cleaning method called Wet-Extraction Cleaning, or Hot-Water Extraction Cleaning. Both services do a lot to boost office hygiene.
  • Why do you outsource hard-to-reach and external window cleaning?
    Hard-to-reach and external window cleaning (>2m) is a specialist service that requires a specific set of skills and training, and safety equipment that we don't possess. Our window cleaning partners are fully accredited, and provide cost-effective, safe solutions to premises of all sizes.
  • What is stripping and sealing?
    Stripping and sealing is a process used to remove layers of built-up and trapped dirt, restore shine, and breathe new life into old and tired vinyl flooring. This service is offered in-house, but larger projects may be outsourced to our trusted network of cleaning partners.
  • Tell me about your in-house hygiene equipment and consumables supply service?
    This service is popular with schools, colleges, and larger offices. We facilitate the hygienic disposal of sanitary waste, and can provide and install a host of items, including sanitary bins, soap and sanitizer dispensers, toilet roll holders and hand dryers. In addition, we'll arrange the ongoing supply of any consumable products needed to keep your restrooms stocked and running smoothly.
